“It’s not risking your life that makes it an adventure, It’s risking your comfortable, preconceived ideas about life. The essence of adventure is to stretch yourself. Maybe just a little bit. Maybe a lot. To go further, faster, higher, longer, deeper or wider than you ever thought you could. To see the world from a different perspective.” – Unknown
The short version to a longer story is that we met each other in college & only had a handful of conversations before graduating and moving on to our next adventures. It wasn’t until a few years after college that our paths crossed again & we began talking on a regular basis. During the first few months of getting to know each other, we created a bucket list of things that we (potentially) wanted to do together if ever ended up in the same city (it’s funny to think back on this now, knowing where life has actually taken us!) Some of these items include…
- Go on a Date
- Visit New Buffalo, Michigan (Austin’s favorite place)
- Camp in the Mountains
- Buy a really good camera
- Austin make/rebuild a bike for Brittany
- Vegas Baby!
- Mushing with Huskies
- Take Brittany to her first Dave Matthews concert
- Picnic in the Park
During the past few years we have been able to check the boxes next to most of our items but there is still one that always catches our eye every time we walk past the bucket list that lives on our fridge. It’s the one item that everyone always dreams about doing but never actually gets around to doing it….
- Backpack through a different country (SEE THE WORLD!)
So here we are, almost 3 years later exactly (May 13th, 2013) since we’ve made the list and we’ve decided that its finally time to check the box next to this item. As we are both in transitional stages in life, we’ve decided to leave our current jobs, pack all our belongings into a storage unit and travel through Southeast Asia for the summer! Follow, share or join us on our next big adventure as we are BUCKET LIST BOUND!
great letter Britt. thank you for letting me share on your next adventure. Love you Grandma. ……. Will be praying that you and Austin stay safe and that the Lord will guide you guys to safe places.
