TODAY’S THE DAY PEOPLE!!!! At 8:30PM (Chicago Time) we will be taking off for a 13 hour plane ride to Dubai. From there we have a 2.5 hour layover and another 7 hour flight from Dubai to Singapore! Yup, that’s about 24 hours of traveling. When we land in Singapore it will be 8:30AM…so our first mission will be finding the best coffee Singapore has to offer so we can attempt to stay up & slowly get on the local time.
Austin & I were both pleasantly surprised how much we could actually fit in both our packs! Below is a breakdown of what we are bringing for at least 60 days of traveling (we have yet to book our return flight home)!
What’s in Brittany’s bag?
- 1 pair of hiking/walking sandals, 2 pairs of flip flops, 1 pair of running shoes
- 3 jean shorts
- 5 workout shorts
- 7 bras – sports bras, bandeaus, basic bra
- 5 cotton dresses
- 4 swim suits
- 6 pairs of socks
- 15 underwear
- 6 T shirts
- 12 tank tops
- light towel – I stumbled across this company called Sand Cloud & they have the CUTEST “towels” that can also be used as a light blanket, shawl, wrap, etc. Girls you seriously have to check them out!!!!
- 1 quart bag of toiletries – I am bringing enough sunscreen & deodorant to hopefully last the entire trip because we have learned that in Asia most of the skin products have a whitening agent to “bleach” their skin. Other travelers have said its very difficult to find sunscreen or deodorant without whitening. SO because I love my tan, I have decided to bring enough of these products & replenish my shampoo, conditioner, soap once I run out (about a week).
- Miscellaneous Items – chargers, medicine, journal, bug spray (lord help me with those mosquitos!), rain jacket, pacsafe bag protector (this thing is awesome & a good piece of mind for any traveler), water bottle
I decided to roll my clothes & put them in gallon bags. Last year when Austin & I backpacked through Costa Rica for 10 days, the most frustrating part was digging through my bag to find something. No matter how organized I made it, it still got messy after a few days of digging. I am hoping this will help with that problem & make it easier for me to find what I need. I am using a 46 liter Osprey pack…fully packed it weighs about 25 pounds!
What’s in Austin’s Bag
- 1 pair of hiking/walking sandals, 1 pair of flip flops, 1 pair of “running” shoes
- 5 light weight shorts
- 3 workout shorts
- 3 swim trunks
- 7 pairs of socks
- 10 underwear
- 12 T shirts
- light travel towel – Austin’s towel isn’t as cute as mine, but still super functional & compact. He decided to go with a microfiber travel towel from Gander Mountain
- 2 bags of toiletries (he’s a rule breaker, I’ll be jealous if he gets through TSA)
- Miscellaneous Items – chargers, electric converters, medicine (he’s basically a walking pharmacy), bug spray, rain jacket, pacsafe bag protector, our awesome camera, water bottle, extra ziplock bagsAustin did some research on the bug situation over there & decided that we should spray all our clothes with Permethrin before packing. Permethrin is used as an insect repellent & is good for up to 6 washes. It basically kills the bugs when they land on our clothing but has no harmful side effect to humans. Austin has a 50 liter pack from Kelty & it weighs about 30 pounds. His bag is sooo much more convenient than mine because he can lay it on it’s back and unzip it like a duffle bag (super jealous).
I was under the impression that TSA wouldn’t let you take shampoo ‘bottles’ etc?
but then, you are the experienced wanderluster.
